2016 Local Government Elections

The Nala Local Municipality has 24 seats. There were 40,437 registered voters in the local municipality for the 2011 local government elections. The highest voter turn-out was achieved in Ward 12 with 66.31 %. The lowest voter turn-out in the municipality was in Ward 10 with 43.18 %. The average voter turn-out achieved in the 2011 municipal elections was 56.09 %.

Following the 2016 local government elections, the African National Congress was returned as the majority party with 15 seats. The Economic Freedom Fighters holds 5 seats as the official majority party. The Democratic Alliance holds 3 seats and the Freedom Front Plus obtained 1 seat in the Council.

The highest voter turn-out was achieved in Ward 12 with 65.79 %. The lowest voter turn-out in the municipality was in Ward 10 with 39.59 %. The average voter turn-out achieved in the 2011 municipal elections was 57.04 %.

Following the 2011 local government elections, the African National Congress was returned as the majority party with 18 seats. The Democratic Alliance holds 3 seats, the Congress of the People holds two seats and the Freedom Front Plus obtained 1 seat in the Council.
